The sea turtle Chu Rua is widely known throughout the kingdom as the lone turtle who swam from the depths of the seas to retrieve a special ginseng for the ill Dragon King. But before he became a celebrated hero to all beneath the ocean waves,in his early years,he was disliked by all he came across.

It was nothing to do with how Chu Rua treated the fish and other aquatic life around him.He was disliked because he was different and most dislike what they don't understand.

Chu Rua was the first sea turtle seen among them in centuries. Because of this he was taunted at a young age for what he was.

He had no fins or gills, instead limbs protruded from underneath a large shell. His mottled skin was so unlike the scales of the fish around him. The heavy, armorlike shell upon his back made it so he wasn't an efficient swimmer and his dull green skin made it so he stood out among the colourful fish.

Because of his appearance, as Chu Rua grew in age, he was shunned by all fish in the sea he called home. It was horrible for him since what Chu Rua wanted most was to be accepted.

Though he was constantly dismissed and ignored,  every day he would wake and swim along with a school of fish, willing himself to blend in. Even when the fish would taunt him, he'd continue to follow behind.

For year's Chu Rua would swim behind a different group of fish each day. Hoping that his constant presence would make it so he would be accepted.

Though this would never happen, there would come a day where everything changed for Chu Rua. He would learn something that'd stick with him for all time.

   ---

The day started out no differently than any other day. The sun shone brightly, warming the waters of Chu Rua's home. The waters were still, everything was peace. At least almost everything.

A school of fish was swimming along excitedly, a lone figure swam towards them. Chu Rua was determined to catch up.

An hour passed and Chu Rua continued to swim at a determined seped. The fish, who first sped through the water, now inched along at a snails pace. It was not long before Chu Rua was swimming at their tails.

They swam along in silence.

<b> that's when it happened..

It was Chu Rua who first saw it and stopped. The school of fish, ignoring Chu Rua, did not notice he'd stopped.

In the distance was some sort of a animal. A many-tentacled creature and though it only floated along in the water, Chu Rua didn't like the looks of it. He swam quickly towards the fish, shouting out to them, but it was to late.

In the blink of an eye, the creature stirred and shot towards them. Some of the fish, now alert to the creature swam for safety. Unlike the fish who escaped, Chu Rua and others were not so lucky.

The creature moved unlike anything Chu Rua had ever seen. It easily snatched them up into it's tentacles and squeezed them tight. Chu Rua was sure it was the end as they were pulled along the water.

<b>                  -----

A group of fisherman slowly pulled the net from the sea and hauled it aboard their boat.

" Good catch today " said the captain of the ship. Others murmered in agreement and began to remove the squirming fish from the net. Until the captain noticed a large turtle struggling among the ropes. "This'll be worth nothin', " said the captain, and without another word he tossed the turtle into the sea.

<b>                  ------

Chu Rua broke through the water's surface and sank to the ocean floor like a stone, not believing what happened. He could only assume those monsters let him go because they to did not want him. What usually made him angry; only made him realize something.

Being well liked and wanted would always be something he desired. But it would be best if he was accepted for who and what he was; not liked for how well he could fit in with the crowd. Or in his case, not accepted for how well he fit in swimming amongst a school of fish.
